Drew Nelson

Drew Nelson was a former two-time all-American division 1 Track and Field athlete while competing at Chicago State University. Drew was a professional, Nike sponsored athlete & trained for 2012 & 2016 Olympic Games under coach Khadevis Robinson, 2x Olympian  7xUSA champion.

Currently, Drew is the C.E.O. of MindoverMatter training established in 2010 & will be launching an AAU Mind Over Matter  Elite Youth running club in  summer of 2022. His vision is to utilize  his knowledge & expertise to give back to the community in the Sacramento area. While coaching he diverts his athletes focus from perfection through progress to emphasizing self growth as individuals as well as athletes.

Drew earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Chicago State University.  Drew has dedicated his time volunteering  with multiple 501 C3 nonprofits including Youth Track & running club & Bobby Jackson Basketball academy & training. Drew‘s mission is to bring Speed and Agility training to youths and the community that might not have an opportunity to be placed or partake on a team setting.

Drew's empathy for the Sacramento community has driven his passion for  leadership, sacrifice, discipline, honor, and community service. Drew credits his Father Larry Nelson for engraving his influential culture and mindset that he carries with him today. Drew is an accomplished athlete, trainer, coach, and motivator. From his life, coaching, & training experiences he up holds the quote “Delay is no defeat”.

Drew was born in San Jose California, & has a daughter Andrea Renee, that is studying to become a nurse at Ball State University.
