Roger Cooke
Roger Cooke is currently the Cross Country and Assistant Track & Field Coach at Jacksonville State University. Including his time at JSU he has totaled 7 years in the coaching profession and has mentored hundreds of student athletes across 4 states and 2 NCAA Divisions. He has had the privilege of coaching athletes to multiple All-Conference and All-Region awards at the Division 1 and Division II levels as well as 5 All-Americans during his time working as a volunteer coach at LSU. Outside of the collegiate ranks he has mentored student athletes to international competitions including the Carifta Games which bring together the best U-20 Track & Field athletes in the Caribbean and surrounding countries. Previous to his time coaching, he was a student-athlete at Louisiana State University where he competed for the Tigers in Cross Country and Track & Field for 5 seasons. His disciplines included cross country, 8k and 10k, where he was named Cross Country runner of the year his senior season and the 1500/mile and 5k indoors and outdoors. Academically he has a Bachelor of Arts in History Secondary Education with a minor in Political Science from LSU and his Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Leadership and Management from Lynn University. Both of these degrees have helped to reinforce his love and passion for working with others. It would be safe to say that his life has been dedicated to proudly serving others and he now has the honor of doing this through a sport that he loves.
